What a Small DIY Generator Can Actually Power

The front page says the job is lights and charging, not the house. This page is that list in plain loads. Measure first. Then pick a lamp that fits the number. Do not size a fridge from hope.

The easy loads

LED bulbs and phone charging are small, steady, and forgiving. A USB power bank is the same idea: you top it up when the coil makes something, then you spend that store later. That is honest success for a pancake-coil build.

A 12-volt light on a battery you already own is often a better first test than trying to run mains gear through an inverter. Inverters waste watts and hide bad numbers.

The loads that stall a small unit

LoadFit for a small DIY coil? Why
LED lamp, phone, small USB bankYes, if measured volts hold under that loadLow watts. No hard start.
FridgeNoCompressor start surge. Needs a rated commercial unit.
Gas furnace blowerNo for a homemade coilStart spike plus legal hookup. Watt math lives on the heat domain.
Well pumpNoHard start. Do not stack it on a small source.
Electric furnace / space heaterNoThousands of continuous watts.

Furnace running watts and startup surge — for a commercial portable, not a pancake coil — are here:

How to know what you built

Write two numbers: open-circuit volts, then volts with a known lamp on. If the lamp kills the voltage, the coil is not ready for that load. Redesign or walk away. That is the honest end of a test, not a reason to invent free energy.

Meter first. Load second. Claims last.

Outage vs learning project

If the grid is down and you need heat or a fridge, this build is the wrong tool this week. One livable room without whole-house heat is here:

When the written blueprint is the cheap comparison

If you want a hardware-store pancake-coil plan instead of a multi-thousand-dollar portable, the guide this site uses is Energy Revolution System, sold through ClickBank. It is a digital blueprint, not a machine, and not a furnace.

FAQ

Will it run the fridge?

Do not count on it. Buy rated commercial gear for food.

Can I add an inverter and call it household power?

An inverter does not create watts. It changes the shape of the ones you already have, and loses some.
